So there's a web site where you can upload a map you've drawn, then have it wrapped around a 3D globe. It's pretty cool. Here, check it out. Map to GlobeSo my thought is that you could do something similar with sprites for player characters or NPCs. Instead of a globe shape, you'd need a meeple shape: So that's the shape online (or in an app). It's the mannequin. Then you have a template for making a sketch. You could do a simple drawing of a head and a body. The app would extrapolate the back and sides, or you could have templates for those too. Use a photo of a face and drag it onto the template. Or do a simple sketch, glasses, beard, whatever. Then the body. Pick colors so the 3D sprite will have for example a white shirt and blue pants. A red tie. Whatever. Then click "create" and your graphic from the template is now wrapped around the 3D meeple mannequin, just like the map is wrapped around the globe. Best of all, you could snap a still picture from whatever angle you were looking for. And export to your favorite virtual tabletop. 3D tokens, all from the same perspective, IE top-down or three-quarter or whatever you prefer. This would be awesome for "monster manual" line drawings that you want to convert to tokens. Get that pointy-nosed troll from another angle! Anyone know if such a thing is already available? If not, how about one of you programmer-types create it? I'll be your best friend!

Here's a simple example for you:

But on the computer, you'd be able to drag and rotate them, to get the angle you want:

So theoretically, with the right template you could produce a top-down version of a token: Or a side-view:
