I often spot items and decide to re-purpose them for gaming. Maybe because of my arts and crafts background as an art teacher.
I had quite a few little plastic tubs from this n that I'd spray-painted and glued paper doors to, but I got rid of them last year when my prospects for in-person Traveller gaming dropped significantly. I figured I could easily replace them, and they were taking up space.
OTOH, I was just clearing out some room and about to trash a foam-core project my daughter didn't want anymore. When I realized that, repainted and placed on a 15mm tabletop scene, they'd make great landing craft to stage a fire-fight around! What do you think?
