New item. In 2023 Worldcon (the convention whose fan attendees supposedly determine winners of the annual Hugo Awards) was held in China. Which raised several disturbing issues. On top of that, in a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy, several authors' works were in fact excluded from Hugo Award consideration for political reasons. This ain't debatable, emails were leaked and folks have stepped down. And so, we see incontrovertible proof of what has been said before, the Hugos are being manipulated by a small exclusive group.
