This game has been "in progress" for more than a decade. But after my recent game of Far Trek I got to poking around online to get the current status. Steve Cole remarked earlier this year (2023) that work continues, and he gets monthly progress reports.
For the uninitiated: In 1979, way back in the day when Original Star Trek was all there was a pocket game called Star Fleet Battles (SFB) was published. It's a game of starship combat, and it generated its own "universe" and timeline. As a starting point it used ships from Franz Joseph's 1975 Starfleet Technical Manual. SFB became wildly popular, as did its setting, and spawned a number of other games. That included an RPG called Prime Directive. It was originally published with its own mechanics, then subsequently released versions for GURPS and d20. Eventually they signed a deal with Mongoose to publish a book for its version of Traveller. The game has been in development and playtesting for well over ten years now.
Gee, I hope it comes out before I die of old age!
