We played two games on Sunday, but Wednesday's game was cancelled. Here's the scoop.
-1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: More excellent thinking-man's gaming. The party handled every potential obstacle while "dungeoneering" today, and I was very impressed. Back to their current patron and they were rewarded with minor enchanted items. However, the items available realistically reflected their makers, so all PCs weren't able to benefit. I liked that aspect and appreciated how the party accepted the logic.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: Things have gotten very cool, and the tone of the game has changed again. Politics and such, and we as Templars to the Graf have a rightful role to play out. It's been a wild ride, and when the campaign concludes in less than a year I will miss it sorely.
- GOZR playtest: As I mentioned, the game was cancelled. Our GM had a power failure.
I will need to begin prepping for my Tekumel game again soon, as that's next on my roster. I'm also sort of toying with the idea of copying my friend, and maybe running one-shots of all the games I still want to try, or haven't played in too long. While my style is normally campaign-length, if I really want to get all these games in before I shuffle off this mortal coil it might be wise to get a move-on.

Well that was fun! Here's the latest reports.
- GOZR playtest: We visited the big city and had some shenanigans, then headed out to a tower made of machine parts. Still having fun, although we seem to get through everything pretty easily.
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: The party had a few choices to make and generally acted pretty admirably. They headed home while seeing a lot of crazy stuff. As usually happens with this group, they ignored some stuff I spent a lot of prep time on. Sigh. Thought they'd get killed in the last battle, but they managed to pull it off. Next session, training and politics.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: I kept trying to dig deeper into the adventuring possibilities, but was stymied at every step. So I played along and the politics got thicker. It was a fun and exciting milestone session. One piece of advice? Never stay at an inn. From now on I'm sleeping under the stars.
Dragonlance in two weeks, I'm all prepped and ready. Keep in touch.

And more gaming fun to report on.
- GOZR playtest: We're rolling right along, and it looks like we should soon finish this adventure. Again, the rules are getting tweaked. Not sure I like the way they're going, but the players are having fun being outlandish anyway.
-1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: More interesting developments and the party is humming right along. There's always at least one person who comes up with something brilliant for each encounter. And I got a complement today, which pleased me very much.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: We're on another quest, and this one is monumental. Lots of role-play, and we got to roll some dice as well. I really love this game.
My Tekumel game will be in another two weeks. That one's going to take some work. Anyway, keep in touch, and I'll be back with you again in a bit.

Please excuse the lack of updates. I started a new gig and had to cancel my Tekumel game. Too much prep required. Then we had a Warhammer game canceled by our GM, who had family visiting. So here's my report.
- GOZR playtest: All done. We wrapped the adventure up and giggled. We had the option to "level" our characters, but since it was a one-shot playtest I declined. Overall I think the game's setting is fun, and so is the art. The system itself seemed a little too easy. It's very open to interpretation, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I never felt threatened. It will be interesting to see the final, published version.
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: A nice session today, light on combat and die-rolling. Just decisions to make in-character, and role-play. No one screwed anything up, and I expect some major goals will get accomplished as a result.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: More trundling down a river. There certainly is a lot of boat action in this campaign. I think we did alright in that we didn't screw up our quest, but sometimes I'm not sure if we're ignoring some story prompts. Anyway, at the end of the session we left the river behind us again and headed out overland. This could be quite an epic quest, and as usual I'm psyched for the next session.
I still have a lot of work to do prepping for Tekumel. I hope I get far enough so I can run the session in two weeks, but this gig is taking up most of my time. Ah well. See you soon.

And we're back! Yesterday was game day, here's what I did.
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: Back in Jakalla, the group tried getting in to see the authorities so they could report that the invasion had been thwarted. They managed to get themselves thrown out of the Clan Hall, so they figured they visit their various temples next. First on the list was Sarku, and they hit the jackpot because one player's clan-mother was greeting visitors! They got to meet the High Priestess, have an audience with the Governor, and get awarded the Gold of Glory for service to the Empire! Not too shabby. Our two provincials were made citizens and adopted into the Clan of the Blazoned Sail. Then we got to go through the details of gaining new levels, and things degenerated into book-keeping as they are wont to do. But all in all quite satisfying. Now I have all kinds of homework to do as a consequence.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: Now we started an overland journey. My character got to leap onto the team of horses pulling our wagon and calm them when they'd gone berserk! Pretty nifty. Also we blew up a mountain pass to thwart our pursuers, and had a pretty cool battle with some highwaymen. It was a great session.
So since I'm working full time my gaming schedule remains pretty restricted. In two weeks we'll do Warhammer again, and I'll be running Dragonlance. See you then!

Had another game day yesterday, Halloween! Sadly since it's online the only costume I had was orange construction-paper pumpkins on my glasses. Not my best Halloween ever... But on to the games!
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: The team agonized over what to do agaaaaaain. Even after arguing and voting last session, they had to re-do the entire debate. Gak! I had planned some Halloween-ish activity but they didn't bite. My players can be so damned passive. They accomplished a plot-point goal though, so that was nice. But they really, really keep pushing against the campaign raison d'etre, that they're bleeding-heart Lawful Good self-sacrificing heroes! You can't play the original Dragonlance campaign if you don't play along with that underlying truth, but I can see them continuously sliding down towards greedy self-centered standard D&D player twit territory. Over and over again. I think I'm tired of reminding them. But it's been decades and I still haven't managed to run this series through to completion so I hate to blow it...
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: Another amazing session! I had so much fun and I couldn't stop laughing. We had some fun battles, odd situations in the mountains to deal with, supernatural shenanigans, and a dwarf who blew up the mountain lair of some hobgoblin bandits! Boom! It was glorious.
Next time around it's back to Tekumel. I managed to get all the PCs leveled except for one, who won't acknowledge my pings. (Sigh) There's one in every crowd. I'll have more prep work for that one too. Drop me a line if you want to get something going, otherwise I'll see you on the flip side!

Another great gaming day! Here's what we did.
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: The team sorted out who to gift most of their loot to. The Clan came out way ahead with about 14,000 Kaitars worth of treasure. They had captured a high-tech "battle tank" that they gave to the Empire or its representative, the Secret Police (the "OAL"). It's a bit of a toss-up at this point. They finished their training and got involved in a big festival dedicated to Hriyahal, a rather decadent goddess. They woke up the next day with vague memories of various different fates, all very amusing. It was a great session.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: Two big battles, one against a giant spider on a slippery mountain slope, the other while crossing a river where we were attacked by a pack of orcs on giant wolves. In both battles our group was split and we really had to struggle. It was very exciting. Then at the end my character spotted a group of flying horses way off in the distance, but they abruptly disappeared. It's a mystery I tell you!
Yes, I had a great time. I have to write up a thorough account of the Tekumel game, then twist my head around to run Dragonlance in two weeks. Let me know if you want in!

Whoops, I missed a weekend! Here's what you missed.
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: The heroes almost got wiped out by a dragon. Luckily our primary cleric's holy staff was used as a focal point for divine intervention, transporting the party away from the devastating breath weapon and giving the group a chance to fight another day. They arrived at the dungeon crawl they'd been aiming for, and things should remain interesting. Should we get a game in on Boxing Day...
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: More perils in the mountains, dangers increased by tricky terrain. We, too, finally achieved our dungeon crawl objective, so more of that next time.
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: I had to cancel this one since I wasn't feeling well.
And there you have it! C'mon and get involved!

And here we are! Sorry for the delay in posting, and a belated Happy New Year!
Both games scheduled for Boxing Day ended up cancelled, casualties of the holidays. Sad. But we've played a bit since then, so let me update you.
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: There was a new city adventure involving one character whose parent had died. A bit of a mystery, that led into the clan's burial vaults. We'll have to pick this one up again next time.
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: Just finished this one today. The team was dungeon-crawling in earnest. Lots of searching and looting, lots of undead, and one poor character lost two levels! It's a terrible example of the dangers of the dungeon. There was also another unfortunate fumble for our female cleric. She'd lost a hand at one point, but had been lucky enough to have access to the appropriate curative spell. Well, this time her Achilles Tendon was cut, severely limiting her mobility. In addition to all this, the group encountered a dragon who was held within some magical effect. After much debate the party decided to leave well-enough alone, and left it behind. I will try and schedule some time to update the party's back-up characters before next session. This is a deadly dungeon!
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: Much dungeon-crawling here, too. Last time it was goblins, but we've gone deeper and this time there were tons of undead. I thought my character was going to die as we were mobbed, outnumbered at least six to one. I found myself lying on my back in a grave with an ethereal undead dwarf trying to siphon the life from me! Fortunately our own dwarf had a bomb of some kind that wiped out a good number of the horde, and we've survived. But there's always next time!
And that brings you up to date. More Tekumel and Warhammer in two weeks. Let me know if you want in!

Sorry I'm late. We played two games since my last post, and are setting up for a third. Let me tell you 'bout it.
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: The team that went down into the crypts decided to dig into a tampered-with tomb. They're now stuck in a "labyrinth" and are in quite a pickle. Honestly I don't know why they went down there, it wasn't part of their mission, and I'd only done up the "labyrinth" the night before "just in case." Goes to show you, a party will never do what you expect.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: We cleared out another level of the dungeon. The GM seems to be hurrying the process a little. I wonder if he's in a hurry to end things. He also complains that we're overpowered for the module as-written, but he hasn't made any effort to upgrade the opposition. In any case, it looks like we'll be winding up this campaign soon, and I'm getting depressed.
- Cyberpunk Red: A friend decided to run this game and invited me to join. It's set to start in two or three weeks, and since I'm a fan of the genre I'm looking forward to it. OTOH "Red" is the latest version of the well-loved Cyberpunk RPG from R Talsorian. I've been toying with the idea of locating a game of the original version, but I'm willing to give this one a try.
This weekend we have more Warhammer, and the battered Dragonlance team is still in a dungeon. Wish them luck, and I'll let you know how it goes.

It’s been weeks, so here’s the update on our gaming!
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: The party continued their dungeoneering, encountering some spectral undead (nothing serious), some giant crocodiles, and finally a shadow dragon! Time to go through the dragon hoard when we get back together, and then onward and downward! (It’s a dungeon, after all.)
-1st ed AD&D in Tekumel: Also dungeoneering, in the labyrinth under the City of the Dead. Traps and more traps, but no one died. Well, other than some skeletal servitors the party uses. Very clever gamers to neatly avoid all my traps, I’m very impressed. Hopefully they’ll escape the labyrinth next session, but if not, then the one after that for sure! (I’m so optimistic.)
- Cyberpunk Red: We created our characters and should be a good team. Hopefully. I don’t know these players, but I will persist in my optimism. I like my character, a corporate executive using this street team to get ahead. What could go wrong? Anyway, I’m also re-reading a bunch of cyberpunk fiction to get in the mood.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: We had two cancelled sessions in a row, which is a shame. But hopefully we’ll have a blast next time to make up for it.
And that’s the way it was. Keep rollin’!

Here we go again, three games to write about this time. Without further ado...
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: a combat I had been anticipating, encounter with a wandering Jack o'Bear! Yes I crossed the beams. Next they very cleverly managed to descend a shaft deep into the earth. After that was an encounter with three very tough skeletons who wailed for the party to save them and retrieve a circlet; sadly the party just cut them down. And finally, an attack on their very own wizard, Rudolfo, by his own fellow party members! He didn't take it well, and vanished in a blinding light.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: We managed to score another goal in our long-standing quest, although we released some eldritch horror as well and have to set that right. Eh, can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs.
- Cyberpunk Red: The first actual session of play went very well. We're still feeling each other out but are beginning to mesh. We got a line on a mission and got into a firefight, but *after* we put together a nice little plan. Sadly one of our group got an arm blown off, but hopefully our four-armed doc will save the day. Looking forward to next time.
Until then.

And here we are, gathered together to share stories of excitement and adventure! Here's what we've been up to.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: As if flying cross-country on winged horses wasn't' enough, we charged into a battle and distinguished ourselves and everything like that! Lots of throwing our weight around (especially the dwarf). Now we're off on another jaunt, this time by boat. Can we bring peace? Wait and see. I'm told we have about two sessions left to finish this fabled quest. Then we're going to make a new party and explore Lustria! I can't wait!
- Cyberpunk Red: Wrapped up the first adventure after another serious firefight. Then home with the spoils, including various hints and such for further shenanigans. Now to spend points and prepare for the next adventure. So far, so good.
That's it for now. Let me know if you want in!

And it’s time to recount the gaming exploits of the various groups I’m in! Hurray! Don’t you just want to join us? Let me know!
- 1st ed AD&D in Dragonlance: The group continued exploring the evil wizard’s dungeon pretty thoroughly. They were faced with an invisible “maze” of sorts, but are proceeding through pretty well. They had to fight invisible opponents in two separate battles. Next time things are going to get rougher.
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: We are perilously close to the end of the campaign! We avoided several river encounters, traded strong words with various authority figures, and finally got attacked while staying at in inn – AGAIN! Will we never learn? I honestly expect several of us, including myself, to die in this fight. One character was off on watch in another location, another decided to stay off by himself, a third character ran away from the battle, leaving me and one companion left to fight off more than half a dozen assassins with poisoned weapons who are planning on burning the place down around us. It would be sad to die at the end of a four-year campaign, but hell, if you split the party up and leave only two to face a full-party encounter that’s what’s going to happen. Am I bitter? Well, I’ll be a good sport, but honestly those were dick moves.
- Cyberpunk Red: We got the new assignment and spent a lot of time planning, even got in some role-play. We got a new player but unfortunately he didn’t get introduced to us until the session was more than half over. Now this party is also split, and there was a bit of a screw-up, so the whole thing may go belly-up. I don’t think we’ll lose more than one character though, if that. We also got our first taste of netrunning in the new edition, and it seemed to go rather well. Looking forward to more of that.
OK then, more later. Thanks for reading!

Two games yesterday, here's the update.
- 1st ed AD&D: This is the group that is no longer adventuring in their home campaign world (on account of the published product's creator turning out to be an actual real-life Nazi). But they're still trying to find a way out of the labyrinth under a tomb. The next chamber had a bunch of statues in curtained alcoves. Memorable results of setting off their magic included 1) acquiring a devoted female companion, 2) being turned to stone, 3) gaining a bonus spell, and 4) being split into two people, one black and one white. The next chamber had an altar, and after summoning two giant worms for sacrifice, the party was teleported into a dust-filled chamber with bad air. There was an unmoving figure sitting in a chair with tendrils coming out of his mouth, but (imagine!) the group headed in the opposite direction. We'll see what they find next time!
- 1st ed Warhammer FRP, The Enemy Within: We're almost at the end of the campaign. Two of us escaped from a dozen murderous cultists with poisoned weapons and barrels of flammable oil by jumping out a six-story window. We would've gone splat if not for Fate Points. Our assassin was almost assassinated in a donut shop, we rescued a blind old lady from more cultists, and now we have the key scene of the campaign coming up next time. We'll end with the "where did the characters end up?" closing scene trope, and then hiatus until our GM has the new "explore Lustria" campaign ready to rock. It's been a wild ride, and I'm looking forward to the campaign book our GM has promised to compile. Gaming really doesn't get better than this!
Intrigued? Let me know if you want to get involved!
