You might not be aware that last week Hasbro announced open playtesting for the next D&D (see what I did there?). Plan is to release it in 2024, ten years after the initial release of 5e. They swear it's backwards-compatible with the 5th edition, and in fact they want to do away with the concept of "editions" altogether. Although since they're changing the rules it will still brick your existing rulebooks, and I'm sure everyone will refer to it as 5.5 or 6e, just like they insisted on calling "D&D Next" the fifth edition in spite of what Hasbro wanted. A little google-fu will get you a link to all the news that fits, but if you decide to playtest any of it I'd be curious to hear how it goes. (I definitely am not interested in playing, as you might have guessed.)
